Carol - Knee Replacement

I was having lots of trouble at first. I was doing a lot of falling. My knee would give out on me, so I would trip over things and fall. My knee just wasn’t working as it should have been. So I started looking for doctors, and I just I went to one and I wasn’t really pleased with how that worked out. And I was just looking for someone and I saw Dr. Crovetti and I thought, I’m going to give him a try because I had looked him up.

He was, you know, well-known in the community. So I went to him and I just told him, I said, I love to travel, I love to go different places. I am on airplanes and I can’t sit for any length of time on an airplane because it’s excruciating. The pain and I would go to get up and it was hard for me to get up. But then I think it’s always hard for somebody to get up on those little airplane seats. But it was particularly hard because my knee was just in so much pain. So I wanted to get my knee done so that I could resume doing some of the things that I used to do. Now, I didn’t give up traveling. I just endured the pain.

Now that I have my knee fixed, I can travel anywhere. I can stand up. I can walk. I don’t fall like I was before. My knee doesn’t give out. I feel more confident that what I’m doing is, you know, going to work the best for me. I went through the (Recovery) Suites after I had surgery. That was the most wonderful experience ever. Dr. Crovetti came to see me while I was in the suite. I started walking on the very first day, and of course, you know, I had that little kush of my knee was still kind of, you know, under the anesthesia kind of. And so it didn’t really bother me.

Then I was in the suite for I think it was two days. Then I started a week later, I started my physical therapy. And that was not as bad as what I thought it would be. In fact, actually, the whole process was not as bad as what I thought it was going to be. I thought I was going to be in the hospital for longer than what I was. I thought I was going to be in physical therapy longer than what I was. But they sent out the program and basically once I was going through the physical therapy for I think I did it for maybe 5 to 6 weeks and it was something that I could do at home. And I’ve kept up doing that. My knee feels great and I’m basically planning my next trip. It’s the long ones that really bother me.

The short ones aren’t too bad, but I took a trip last year to Portugal and oh, I was in such pain. I, I would never even attempt that without having this knee surgery. So all in all, it’s been a terrific experience for me. If I needed to do it again, I would have no problem. But Dr. Pandit says that my left knee is doing very well, and I’m glad about that.

And the physical therapy not only helped me with my knee that had the surgery, but it also helped me with my overall health because my left knee got stronger while my right knee was being rehabbed. So all in all, it was it was a great experience. I’m glad I did it. I’m glad I came to Dr. Pandit. So it’s been a wonderful experience.
