Dr. Jenifer Powers is one native Las Vegan who has finally found her way back home.

Following an extended journey across the West to complete her medical education, she has spent the past five years working at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Dr. Powers is excited for the opportunity to return to her hometown and provide comprehensive and compassionate care to best meet the needs of her patients and the community where she grew up.

During her time in Texas as a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopaedic surgery, she has focused on pediatric and adolescent hip pathology, trauma, and lower extremity deformity – including clubfeet. Her special interest in clubfeet played a role in helping to make Texas Children’s Hospital-The Woodlands, a Center of Excellence.

Dr. Powers received a Bachelor of Science degree from California Lutheran University, her Doctorate of Medicine at University of Nevada School of Medicine (Reno), and completed her orthopaedic residency at the University of Utah. She then undertook subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital and the Shriners Hospital for Children-Houston.

She is a member of The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, and The Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America.

As is often the case, her introduction to Dr. Michael Crovetti came through a friend at close to just the right time. She had a 5-year plan to move out west, and after meeting with Dr. Crovetti, and taking a few months to consider the possibilities, she chose to return to Las Vegas to join Crovetti Ortho for a better work/family balance. Something definitely needed, because this time around she arrived with a family of her own that includes her husband, Beau, three young children, and a rescue dog. Being close to her parents and siblings, too, was just the icing on the cake.

When not seeing patients in her offices, Dr. Powers can be found sampling new foods, and exploring the great outdoors. Hiking, camping, skiing, and perhaps a few half marathons each year are a regular part of her agenda.
