How long should I wait between hip surgeries?

Many people ask me how long they have to wait to have the second hip replacement. Following the first procedure, I ask that patients wait a minimum of three weeks to schedule the second hip replacement. Over the last several years, I’ve noticed patients are more prepared to have their second surgery whether it be physically or mentally at about three weeks after their first procedure. You may schedule the procedure anytime after that whether it be to work or maybe the pain in the second hip isn’t as bad. But know that three weeks is the minimum that I recommend for scheduling your second hip replacement.
